William Morris
William Morris (1834-1896) was a British author, poet, social activist, and founder of the "Arts and Crafts" movement that sought to revive traditional craftsmanship in reaction to the trend towards industrialization. He was also one of the founders of the fantasy genre. His highly alliterative metrical poem "In Prison" is an early imitation of Norse Poetry. The Mayor's speech in his poem Love Is Enough is one of the early attempts at orginal modern English alliterative verse.
