Thomas Sudell is a graduate of Oxford University (2015) where he specialised in Old English (Anglo-Saxon). His dissertation on Tolkien’s use of Old English metre in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fall of Arthur was subsequently published in Tolkien Studies, Vol. 13, and his translations of Anglo-Saxon poetry into metrical verse have appeared in print in Areopagus with further online translations appearing in Littoral Magazine, Briefly Zine, and Eternal Haunted Summer. His long metrical poem in Spenserian stanzas, Hades and Persephone, appeared in the March 2025 edition of Carmina Magazine.
