Rosemary Kirstein is a science fiction author, best known for her Steerswoman series (The Steerswoman, The Outskirter's Secret, The Lost Steersman, and The Language of Power). These works contain several fragments of alliterative verse composed by Bel, a "barbarian" outlander who befriends the story's protagonist.
