Jere Fleck

Jere Fleck (1936-2017) was a professor of Germanic languages at the University of Maryland and a member of the Society For Creative Anachronism, where he was known as Geirr Bassi Haroldsson. He was also a member of Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia. Several of his alliterative poems appear in Dennis Wise's critical anthology of modern alliterative verse, including the following poems, originally published in Tournaments Illustrated (1976-1978):
