Earle Birney
Earl Birney (1904-1995) was a noted Canadian poet and author who twice won the Governor's General award for his poetry. His alliterative verse poems "Oil Refinery" in The Collected Poems of Earle Birney (1942) and "War Winters" and "Anglosaxon Street" (1964) in The Poems of Earle Birney. "Oil Refinery" and "Anglosaxon Street" also appear in Dennis Wise's critical anthology of modern alliterative verse. They can also be found .
