- "Mappemounde" (1945) was first published in The Strait of Anian (1948).
- "Oil Refinery" appears in Earle Birney's Collected Poetry (1975), vol. 2, and is reprinted in Dennis Wise's critical anthology of modern alliterative verse. ("Anglo-Saxon Street", "War Winters" and "Mappemound" also appear in his Collected Poetry, vol. 1.)
- “Beyond the Meadhall” was first published in Last Makings (1991)
