Dorothy Nielsen
Dorothy Nielsen, PhD, taught literature and writing for many years at Ontario universities. She was born in Indiana, moved to Canada as a child, and currently lives in London, Ontario.
Her poems appear in numerous journals such as Christianity and Literature, The Literary Review of Canada, Ekstasis, The Fiddlehead, and The Dalhousie Review, as well as in her poetry collection, The Persephone Papers, and in a set of stained-glass windows in a London library featuring pieces by 12 Canadian writers. Her literary criticism (on topics ranging from religion and literature, through American nature poetry, to Canadian fiction) has been published in various journals and books, including the 2025 anthology The Alchemy of Stories: Essays on Literature and Life. She serves on the advisory board for Traces Journal.
Her alliterative verse on this site includes the poem Presentation, a retelling of Luke 2:22-38.
