Roy Liuzza
Roy Liuzza is a translator and Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at the University of Tenessee at Knoxville, specializing in Old English language and literature. According to his university website, he has "a special interest in editing and textual criticism, translation, and Anglo-Saxon science and medicine. His current work is on the Anglo-Saxon sense of time in scientific, historical, and literary works; he is also preparing an edition and translation of Ælfric’s Catholic Homilies for the Dumbarton Oaks Medieval Library."
He is best known for his well-received, alliterative translation of Beowulf (Broadview Press, 2012) and for Old English Poetry: An Anthology (Peterborough, ON: Broadview Press, 2014). His alliterative translations of Old English poetry include his translations of Exeter Book riddles #44 and #47. reprinted by the Poetry Foundation.
