Forgotten Ground Regained
Contributor: Tony Mitchell
Tony Mitchell (1934-2023) was born in 1934 in London, the only son of Harry and Violet. He travelled to Egypt as part of his military service in 1954 and returned to the UK to become an educator – first, as a teacher and then as a teacher trainer. Upon retirement, he became a county councillor and supported a variety of charities and causes. His love of poetry was evident in his publishing a collection of his work at the age of 86 (Life’s Lines, Michael Terence Publishing, 2020).
His alliterative poetry includes the following poems originally published in Withowinde, and is reprinted here with the permission of his family:
- Toys (2012)
- Strange Season (2021)
- Huscarl (2021)
