Forgotten Ground Regained
Gerard Manley Hopkins
Gerard Manley Hopkins was a poet and a priest, little known during his lifetime (1884-1889), who became much more widely known after his dead for the beauty and originality of his verse. While not formally an alliterative poet, the richness of his alliteration and the ragged rhythms of his verse are often reminescent of it.
