Fred Chappell
Fred Chappell (1936-2024) was an author, poet, and professor at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He was poet laureate of North Carolina from 1997 to 2002. His poem My Grandfather's Church Goes Up appears on this site and in Dennis Wise's critical anthology of modern alliterative verse. It was originally published in Midquest: A Poem (Louisiana State University Press, 1981).
