Dave Ring is a lifelong Tolkien fan and seriously considered a career in linguistics, but ended up in biotech research. He also enjoys programming, including development of a fast variant of burstsort. His poems vary in style and topic, but he finds alliterative meter particularly apt for describing experiences and encounters in nature.
