Forgotten Ground Regained

Contributor: Brian Wright

Withowinde author
Brian Wright (1946-2017) was born, and lived throughout his life, in Hillingdon, Middlesex. He had a passion for English history and language. Having left school without qualifications he completed a degree as a mature student in the 1980s at the (then) West London Institute of Higher Education. This education gave him confidence in his voice as a poet and he was awarded a prize for his work. He was also a highly skilled, self trained, amateur carpenter.
His alliterative verse includes the following poems, originally published in Withowinde, and is reprinted here with the permission of his family:
  • Cain's Kin (Grendel Alone) (2003)
  • Giants' Work (1999)
  • The Sais and Taliesin (1999)
  • At the Place of the Hoary Apple Tree (1998)
  • Icy Yule (1997)
