Forgotten Ground Regained

Never Again (Isaiah 65:17-25)

Kathryn Ann Hill
Isaiah 65:17-25 is read on the Last Sunday of the Church Year.
Thus says the Lord, the living God:“Behold, I create new heavens and new earth;the old order shall ever be forgotten.Be glad forever, forever rejoicefor My new creation ever rejoices; My city, My people sing with delight.I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in My people;the sound of weeping and sorrowful cryingshall never be heard, never again.
“A newborn child shall never againbe born then die in a day or two.Never again on My good earthshall the elderly fail to fill out their days.Who dies at a hundred shall be deemed a youth;and he shall be deemed accursed who dies before that age. They shall happily inhabit the houses they build;the vineyards they plant shall supply their tables. They shall not build and another dwell there;they shall not plant and another eat.For My people shall live as long as a tree, and they shall long enjoy the labor of their hands. They shall not labor for nothing—never—nor bear children bound for destruction. For they all shall be blessed with bounty from the Lord.
“I will hasten to help when I hear their cries;I will answer their pleas before they finish praying. The wolf and the lamb alike shall graze, the lion and ox alike shall eat straw, and the serpent will forage for food in the dust. They shall not hurt, they shall not destroyon all My holy mountain, My haven for My own.”
