Forgotten Ground Regained

Nature's Hymn

David Jalajel
Our Lord! You wrought the lion’s roarFrom earth and air and ancient fear,In fire and strife under stars long gone.
Engraved in cliffs, though ghosts of stone,We sing of You, our sovereign Lord.
Eternal Fashioner of our feral days! –From desolate seas to the depths of landWe crawled; we heaved our creeping forms.
Engraved in cliffs, though ghosts of stone,We sing of You, our sovereign Lord.
Our lives You framed on a lathe of changeTo be as breath, the briefest whisperOf truth and love in trammeled bone.
Engraved in cliffs, though ghosts of stone,We sing of You, our sovereign Lord.
