Forgotten Ground Regained

Behold, Your God Will Come (Is 35:3-7)

Kathryn Ann Hill
A Poem for Quinquagesima
Strengthen and heal the hands that are weak, make sure and firm the feeble knees.Say to the fearful-hearted, “Take heart, be strong!Behold, your God, the Holy One of Israel, will come with vengeance to vindicate and save you.”
Then God will open the eyes of the blind;your Savior will open the ears of the deaf. The lame shall skip and leap like a stag, and the tongue of the mute shall merrily sing.In the barren wilderness, waters shall burst forth, and streams in the dry, desolate wasteland. The burning sand shall become a bracing pool, and the thirsty land shall come alive with springs. And the haunt of jackals, their parched haven, shall then be overrun with reeds and rushes.
