Under the Eye
Under the eye · of an almost full moonI rounded the rented houseLawn-reliever · & hose carryingAn hour into this choreAt the spinner’s spot · I bent, startlingA rabbit who’d been crouchedAn arm’s-length awayHe leapt up · in the half-lightOf lamps & the lucent moonI hadn’t thought · to be so metAny more than heOn a nibbling night · on his scrambling roundIn a moon-spattered suburbBorrowed home
