Forgotten Ground Regained
Mabie Forest
Fronds of finely frosted, glossy bracken buckle backwards, racked by harsh and hurtling hail which flails the ground with grinding grit so bitter.
Note from the Editor:
“Mabie Forest” imitates hagmælt (‘skillfully spoken’). This is a variant of fornyrðislag with internal rhyme (skothending, or internal slant rhyme, in odd-numbered lines and aðalhending, or internal full rhyme, in even ones, as in dróttkvætt).
