Forgotten Ground Regained

Earth Mother

Lisa Timpf
Maybe our mythos about Mother Natureis rooted and real, though radically differentfrom the woman once worshipped, with wondrous powerfor healing the harms and the hurts of the world.
What if Earth-Mother is fungal in nature, mycelial meshwork, a massive brainself-conscious and sensate, stitching together
a nurturing network of natural things?Mycelia surge and send their signalsmessages travel for miles and miles.Touching the tree roots, they sense old traumas, memories marshalled beneath the ground.
Perhaps there’s a reason we don’t see Earth Motherwalking the forests, the farms, and the fields. Our image mistaken, and missing the mark, yet safe under soil, she lives. She lives.
