They snuck into the scene somehow,the two-hundred-foot tapestrystuffed with the usual history –kings, contenders, and war coming –but there they are in russet yarnand olive wool, their bodies limnedfor all time in embroidery,a mother and her boy burned outof their torched house by two soldiers –her raised hand and his resignationthe dour bow of the dispossessed.
